"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
John Anthony Ferroli, 62, of Grand Rapids, MI passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior on February 17, 2021.
John was born to the late Robert J. and Ruby J. Ferroli. He is survived by his wife, Irma and son, Matthew. Also surviving are his sisters Diane, Laura, Catherine and Milissa, his mother-in-law, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle and cousins.
John graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Notre Dame in 1980 and received his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame in 1983. He began his legal career in Grand Rapids with Baxter & Hammond in 1983 and continued with the firm as they merged with the Detroit firm, Dykema Gossett in 1984. He never sought recognition but was voted a "Top Lawyer" locally and statewide by his peers. Not only did John strive to do things right, his integrity led him to always do the right thing. He was Managing Member of Dykema's Grand Rapids office at the time of his passing.
John enjoyed jazz, concerts at Meijer Gardens, travel, Italian food, the Fighting Irish, tailgating at ND and spending time with friends and family. We will miss his laugh, quick wit and the example of decency, honesty and work ethic he left us. He lost his battle with cancer but he has won his place in heaven beside our Lord.
A visitation for John will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 12:30 pm until 2:30 pm in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend, IN 46628. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:30 pm on February 25 at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. A funeral procession will escort the family and friends from the funeral home to the church. Entombment will follow the Mass in Cedar Grove Cemetery at Notre Dame. The family will be hosting a dinner following the services. Due to the ongoing pandemic Masks are required to be worn at all times during the visitation and Mass.
