Jimmie L. Horton, Sr.

Jimmie L. Horton Sr., 87, of South Bend, Indiana transitioned peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

Jimmie was born in Mississippi on September 11, 1936 to Louise Kirkland (Robert) who proceeded him in death, along with one daughter, Rosemary.

Jimmie was a Christian after giving his life to the Lord in 1980.  Jimmie loved to sing, travel, and his favorite team was the Chicago White Sox.

Jimmie was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from the St. Joseph County Jail after 25 years.

Jimmie leaves to cherish a sister, Hattie Henderson (Willie), a former wife, Rose Horton of 42 years and to that union 7 children.  3 sons, Jimmie L. Horton, Jr. (Connie) Robert Horton, and Gary Horton, 4 daughters, Mary Morris (Ronald), Sherri Johnson (Michael), Bev. Horton and Denise Taylor (Victor), two special cousins Beatrice Williams and Eara Berry, a Host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024 in the Kingdom Life Christian Cathedral.  Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.  A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the church.
