It is with great sadness that we announce the death of “A Classic”, Jerry L. Fournier.
Jerry passed away January 28, 2025, at the age of 78. One of Jerry’s many favorite
sayings was, “It’s a Classic”, with his definition being, “First in Class”. This definitely
described Jerry himself, “A Classic”.
Jerry was born on October 15, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan to Lawrence and Ruby
(Burton) Fournier. He served in the National Guard and was stationed at Camp Grayling
in Grayling, Michigan. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Hospitality Business from
Michigan State University which prepared him to eventually become one of four
partners in the food service company known globally as HDS. Jerry excelled in his
career. He was on the Hospitality Business School Board at MSU and was President of
the Michigan Restaurant Association in 2001. Because of his love for his profession,
Jerry put his culinary skills to work not only professionally, but organized countless
church, community, and club events to raise money for various organizations. Jerry
loved spending time with his family and friends. He and his wife Morna, moved from
Michigan to Indiana 5 years ago and have spent half their time between Florida and
Indiana. His hobbies included walking, traveling, biking, cooking, golfing, gardening,
reading, fishing, and spending time at his cottage, later home, at the lake.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Morna; son, Jason (Ryan) Fournier, California;
daughter, Kellee Kazan, Michigan; son-in-law, Wyatt Kazan, Michigan; step daughter,
