Jerry Charles Chapman

Jerry Charles Chapman, 93, of New Carlisle, Indiana passed away on November 28, 2022 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born on February 6, 1929 in Hobart, Indiana to the late Henry and Pearl (Wolfe) Chapman, who later married Lawrence Rigg. On January 19, 1957 he married Betty L. Shippy who survives. Jerry is also survived by 1 son, Scott G. Chapman, 3 daughters, Lynn (Dede) Chapman(Greg), Kimberley (Kenneth) Huston of New Carlisle, Indiana, Jeri Lee Burnett of Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi, six grandchildren, Joanna Singh, Chad Renfro, Kristina Jarka, Jessica Renfro, Kenneth Huston and Calvin Watkins who preceded him in death and seven great-grandchildren and 1 great child who preceded him in death.

He was a Marine. Jerry enjoyed being surrounded by his family and friends, sports and relaxing at Hudson Lake. He looked forward to his annual Biloxi golf trips and spending winters in Florida. He supported his family as a self-employed drywall contractor for 30 years. In 1976 he moved to New Carlisle and became a builder/developer. He was 65-year Member of the American Legion Post #297.  He just loved New Carlisle, the Town he and Betty began their life together of 65 years.

No services will be held at this time. He will be buried in New Carlisle Cemetery at a later date. Memorial Contributions may be made to the New Carlisle Community Church P.O BOX 155, New Carlisle Indiana or American Legion Post #297 in Jerry’s honor.
