Jerrold A. Franzi

Jerrold A. Franzi, 67, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 23, 2024, in Memorial Hospital.  Jerrold was born on February 20, 1957 in Fort Lewis, Washington to Joseph and Nellie Mary Magdalene (Rudilige) Franzi.  He retired on May 29, 2014 from the City of South Bend, where he was employed in Equipment Services for 28 years as a heavy equipment mechanic. On November 17, 1977 in Alexandria, Virginia he married Deborah L. Heddens, who survives.  Jerrold is also survived by his daughter, Nicole Price of South Bend, Indiana; two sons, Joseph Franzi of South Bend, Indiana and Jason (Jackey) Franzi of Mishawaka, Indiana; five grandchildren, Jacob, Leonard, Julian, Micaela and Zachariah Franzi; two nieces; and three nephews.  Jerrold was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Nellie Mary Magdalene Franzi; one sister, Linda Carter; and two brothers, Michael and Dan Franzi.  To honor Jerrold’s wishes there will be no visitation or services.  Jerrold served in the United States Army from 1976 until 1980.  He enjoyed fishing, camping, attending cook outs with his children and grandchildren, and watching his beloved Indianapolis Colts play. He also loved spending time with his pets, dog Heidi and several kitties over the years. Memorial Contributions should be directed to Pet Refuge or the St. Joseph County Humane Society.  Kaniewski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
