Jean L. (Ryan) Rogers

Jean L. Rogers, 77, of New Carlisle, IN, passed away at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN.

She was born on November 30, 1946 to the late Donald P. Sr. and Shirley C. (Bitting) Ryan in Peoria, IL, and has lived in New Carlisle, IN since 1962.  Along with her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis L. Rogers; and a brother, Donald P. Ryan Jr.

Jean graduated in 1964 from New Carlisle High School and then received an Associate’s Degree in Nursing.  She worked for 34 years at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN, as a Registered Nurse, before retiring in 2001.

On May 20, 1966, as Jean L. Ryan, she married Dennis L. Rogers at the United Methodist Church in New Carlisle, IN.  He passed away on November 13, 2020.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Erica S. (Brett) Schascheck of Rolling Prairie, IN; two sons, Charles P. (Lisa) Rogers of Plainfield, IN; Donald E. (Michelle) Rogers of Hudson Lake, IN; nine grandchildren, Sean (Anna) Rogers, Shannon Rogers, Colin Rogers; Zeena Hoover, Ryan Rogers, Jasmine, Jackie, Jaycee, and Jeanie Schascheck; one sister, Joan (Rodney) Mayfield of New Carlisle, IN; two sisters-in-law, Judy Ryan of Lafayette, CA; Sandy Davis of New Carlisle, IN; and several nieces & nephews.

She was active in both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.  Jean enjoyed sewing and loved her dog, Willy.  Her family will surely miss her Carrot Cake!

There will be no visitation or services.  Private Burial will take place in New Carlisle Cemetery at a later date.
