Janet Andrea Tessely

Janet Andrea Tessely, 83, of South Bend, Indiana passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born on December 9, 1941 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Jerold and Helen (Tomasits) Royce. On June 3, 1961 she married Ronald Tessely in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in South Bend. He preceded her in death on September 17, 2015. Jan is survived by two daughters, Ronnae (Donna) Tessely of South Bend, Indiana and Shelly (Rodney) O’Dell of South Bend, Indiana, one son, Ronald Tessely of North Miami, Florida, six grandchildren; Sydney, Erika, Ryan, Emma, Leah and Matthew, two great grandchildren, Amelia and Leonardo, one brother, Allen “Lloyd” (Deb) Eulert of Vandalia, Illinois, one special friend, Kathy Bradley and two cats Rikki and Flynn. 

 Jan retired from Indiana Bell as a telephone operator, completed nursing school in 1994 and was employed by St Francis Convent for 3 years. Following retirement, Jan and Ron traveled around the country in their RV for 10 years. She loved to travel and spend time with her family and friends. She was smart, funny, kind and made friends everywhere she went. Always up for adventure, she liked to ride along on wildlife rescue transports and comfort baby opossums and racoons on their way to the rescue.  She was a great mom and we will miss her very much. Love you mommy. Kiss-kiss, hug-hug. 

No services will be held per Jan’s wishes. Memorial contributions may be made to The St. Joseph County Humane Society or Rescue Release Repeat of St. Joseph County in Janet’s honor.
