James Lee Feece, 83, of New Carlisle, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, May 16,2023. He was born on April 17, 1940 in LaPorte, Indiana to the late James W. and Eleanor M. (Ward) Feece. On April 4, 1959 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in LaPorte, he married Judith Ann Green, who survives. James is also survived by one daughter, Theresa (John) Rhymer of South Bend, Indiana; four sons, William “Bill” (Laurie) Feece of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, Bob Feece of New Carlisle, Indiana, Brad Feece of Hudson Lake, Indiana, and Brian (Kelly) Feece of Hudson Lake, Indiana. Grandpa Jim will also be missed by his many grandchildren, Jemiah (Kris) Piesyk, Andrew (Patricia) Rhymer, Jenah (Britni) Feece, Zachary Rhymer (Kelsey Grim), Jacob (Casey) Feece, Blake Feece, Olivia Feece (Nick Mendenhall) and Bridget Feece; as well as great-grandchildren, Alex, Eliana and Brookliyn. Also surviving are his sister, Linda (Glenn) Anderson of Cincinnati, Ohio; and two brothers, Gerald (Julie) Feece of Niles, Michigan and Roger (Flora) Feece of Guatay, California.
Jim was a 1958 graduate of Rolling Prairie High School. He proudly served his country in the US Army. He was a hard worker working for Studebaker, ANR freight for 36 years and he was a union teamster driving a semi, and then 15 years after retirement for Penske. Jim traveled across the US and Canada by motorcycle, with his wife Judy. He was a family man! He was a boy scout leader. He enjoyed watching his family grow up on Cedar Lake, where he enjoyed skiing and fishing. Jim also loved watching his grandchildren at all of their activities and sporting events. Gardening and planting sweet corn were among his favorite hobbies. He loved eating pierogi and bluegill! He had a passion for helping others in various ways, throughout his lifetime.
A visitation for James will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr. South Bend, IN from 5:00 pm EDT until 8:00 pm EDT. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm EDT on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 in the funeral home with visitation for one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in Sauktown Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted. Memorial Contributions may be made in James’ honor to AA Michiana Central Service Office, 818 E.
