James L. Emerick

James L. Emerick, 77, of Mishawaka, IN, passed away on Sunday April 30, 2023 at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.  He was born on December 2, 1945, in South Bend, to the late Donald Lawrence and Verna Eileen (Neal) Emerick.  On February 8, 1969, he married Linda Saunders, who preceded him in death on August 31, 2014.  He was also preceded in death by a sister, Carol McMillan and a brother, Donald Emerick.  James is survived by his daughter Natalie Emerick-Eminger of Indianapolis, IN, his son, Shawn and Gregg-Marie (Bollew) Emerick of Granger, IN; three grandchildren; Miranda (Tony) Brown and Steven and Rachel Emerick; two great-grandchildren, Vivan and Eleanor and a sister-in-law, Wilma "Susie" Emerick of South Bend.  Mr. Emerick worked as a Elevator Repair Tech for Schindler Elevator Company, where he retired in 2006 after 38 years of service and was a member of the IUEC Local 44 (57).  He was a United States Navy Vietnam Veteran, a life member of the VFW Post #360 and the American Legion Post #161, both of Mishawaka, enjoyed Auto Racing, working on cars and especially spending time with his family and cooking Sunday dinners.  A graveside service for James will be held at 1 p.m. Friday May 5, 2023 at Highland Cemetery, with Navy Military Honors.  To send online condolences, please visit www.kaniewski.com.
