James F. Snyder

JAMES F. SNYDER, 73, OF SOUTH BEND, IN, PASSED AWAY ON SUNDAY, DECEMBER 20, 2020 AT ST. JOSEPH REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER IN MISHAWAKA, IN AFTER A LONG AND DETERMINED BATTLE WITH CEREBRAL AMYLOID ANGIOPATHY.  HE WAS A DEVOTED AND LOVED HUSBAND, FATHER, GRANDFATHER, AND BELOVED BROTHER.  

He was born on October 11, 1947 to the late John J. and Rose T. (Bella) Snyder in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong area resident.  

Jim was a 1965 graduate of St. Joseph’s High School in South Bend, IN and attended Indiana University South Bend.  He then went on to serve his country as a Communication Technician in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War Era, monitoring Soviet naval activity in the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.                                                  

On May 29, 1976, he married Paulette M. Williamson at Christ the King Catholic Church in South Bend, IN.  

Jim retired from USF Holland, where he worked in administration for many years.  

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Paulette M. Snyder of South Bend, IN; his daughter, Courtney Snyder of Indianapolis, IN; his son, Zachary (Jami) Snyder of South Bend, IN; one granddaughter, Avery Snyder of South Bend, IN; and a brother, Michael S. Snyder of South Bend, IN. 

Jim was a member of Teamsters Union #364.  He enjoyed listening to music (especially The Beatles), attending concerts, loved animals, and was a passionate Cubs fan.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 3:00 until 7:00 pm on Saturday July 10, 2021 at the Izaak Walton League, 20400 Darden Rd., South Bend, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or Pet Refuge Inc.
