James A. Pinter

James A. Pinter, 82, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 7:40 p.m.  Saturday, December 3, 2022, in the Raclin House.  James was born on April 2, 1940 in South Bend to Stephen and Mary (Meuleman) Pinter, and was a lifelong resident.  He retired in 2020 from Gurley Leep Automotive Family where he was employed in the Transportation Department.  On April 24, 1965 he married Margaret A. Kalmar, who survives.  James is also survived by his daughter, Theresa (Allen) Holt of Mishawaka, Indiana; his son, James M. (Sarah) Pinter of New Carlisle, Indiana; seven grandchildren, James (Claire) Holt, Savanah (Aaron) Sterry, Shelbi Holt, Allison Pinter, Jacob Pinter, Megan Pinter and Nicholas Pinter; two great-grandchildren, Amara Sterry and Adeline Holt; two sisters, Joan Blitz of South Bend, Indiana and Margaret Hosinski of Mishawaka, Indiana; and one sister-in-law, Carole Pinter of Granger, Indiana. James was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Mary Pinter; his great-grandson, Asher Sterry; and his brother, Stephen Pinter.  There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday, December 9, 2022 in St. Joseph Church, South Bend, Indiana. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. James served in the United States Army from 1959 – 1962.  He was a member of the American Legion Pulaski Post #357, Knights of Columbus Council 5570, and Bowlers Country Club.  He was a baseball and softball coach at Eastside Little League for 12 years.  He spent countless hours attending sporting events for his children and grandchildren.  Memorial Contributions may be directed to Pet Refuge or Tunnels to Towers.
