James E. Warren

James E. Warren, 81, of South Bend, Indiana passed away on Friday, June 14, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was born on June 2, 1943 in Buchanan, Michigan to the late Stephan and Mary (Topash) Warren. On July 20, 1963 in South Bend, Indiana he married Carol Dokey who preceded him in death on May 14, 2023. James was also preceded in death by one son Stephan Warren, two brothers Bill Warren and Steve Warren, Jr., and one sister MaryJo Morris. He is survived by one daughter, Darlene (Michael) Van Tubbergen of South Bend, Indiana, two sons, Jamie (Tanya) Warren of Mishawaka, Indiana, and Jeff (Tamara Held) Dokey of South Bend, Indiana, eight grandchildren, two sisters, Darlene Cole of Bradenton, Florida and Barbara Warren of Dowagiac, Michigan, one brother, John Warren of Granger, Indiana and eleven great grandchildren.

James was a union plumber for Local#172 where he developed many great relationships with friends. He was a well-established local musician throughout the 1960s and 1970s. He continued to enjoy music and made many friends in the karaoke scene. James spent many years attending Notre Dame Football and Basketball games. His last years were well spent with his wife traveling and enjoying retirement.

A visitation will be held on Monday, June 17, 2024 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr. South Bend, IN. A funeral service with a pipe ceremony will be held at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.kaniewski.com
