James Joseph Cytacki

James (Jim) Joseph Cytacki passed over to the other side of life on Tuesday May 27, 2025.  Jim was a devoted husband, father, brother and uncle.  Born in 1941 to Adeline (Slomski) and Anthony Cytacki in South Bend.  Graduated from South Bend Central High school lettering in wrestling.  Served in the Navy and through training and college courses prepared to work as an IBM Customer engineer until retirement.  In retirement would work for Auto Traders and as Bank Currier.   Jim was interested many topics, sports ND football and ND girls’ basketball in later years attending many games. Jim was proud of his service in the Navy, and believed in America and democracy.  Jim liked working in the yard, learning and talking about the civil war, technology and computers in ways that some struggled to understand. Conversations were entertaining and learning experiences.

In 1966 he married the love of his life, Dawn Cheryl Fox in St. Patrick’s Church South Bend. Together they raised two children, Amber and Adam. Jim is survived by his daughter and son in law, Amber and Michael Kent Indianapolis, grandchildren, Ashlyn and Brock Whitmer Nappanee Indiana, Jayden Kent Cape Girardeau Mo, and Madison Kent Lafayette Indiana, a brother Michael Cytacki South Bend, and 2 nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marlene and son Adam.  Jim was a member of St. Joseph parish South Bend. Donations in honor of Jim can be made to Wounded Warrior or charity of choice.  

A funeral service for Jim will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday June 4, 2025 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where friends may visit for one hour prior to the service.  To send online condolences, please visit www.kaniewski.com.
