Jacqueline Maxine "Jackie" Veith Obituary

Jacqueline Maxine "Jackie" (Bates) Veith, 93, of New Carlisle, passed away on Monday May 22, 2023 at Hamilton Communities, New Carlisle.  She was born on February 21, 1930, in South Bend, to the late Edward and Ruth (Whestler) Milliken.  On August 20, 1948 she married Norin C. "Jack" Bates, who preceded her in death on January 16, 1997.  She married Robert "Bud" Veith on October 25, 2000 and he preceded her in death on July 28, 2001.  She then married Robert "Bob" Andrzejewski on September 24, 2011 and he preceded her in death on July 29, 2019.  Also preceding her in death were her brothers, Richard Lee and Malcolm " Bud" Milliken and a sister, Joan Thornburg and a son-in-law, Russell LaVine.  Jackie is survived by her three daughters; Cynthia (John) Schuler of Rolling Prairie, IN, Carmen Olds of Bloomington, IN and Kimberly LaVine of South Bend, her son, Gene (Katherine) Bates of New Carlisle, nine grandchildren; Callie Herrenbruck, Cara Schuler, Mollie Walton, Sarah Bates, Justin Olds, Amy Minix, Mary Jo LaVine, Jackie Jones and Carl LaVine, 14 great-grandchildren, a special son, Robert "Bob" Veith of Indianapolis, her sister, Elizabeth Bonebrake of New Carlisle and by several nieces and nephews.  Our Mom lived her life for family.  Many people became part of our family through her generous, caring ways.  She was always welcoming others into our home to share her delicious meals, especially during the holidays.  Through her charity work, she was quick to meet the needs of others.  We were blessed with her humor, guidance and unconditional love.  Mom's deep faith sustained her through challenges she faced in life.  We are thankful God chose her to be our Mother!  Her easy laugh and warm smile will live in all of our hearts.  Mrs. Veith was a member of the Lydick United Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary Post # 297, New Carlisle, the Mothers of World War II, the New Carlisle Historic Society and volunteered at Hamilton Grove and the Lydick United Methodist Church.  A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon EST Saturday May 27, 2023 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home Chapel, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend.  Funeral services for Jackie will follow at noon in the chapel.  Burial will conclude in Hamilton Cemetery, New Carlisle.  Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice or to the Lydick United Methodist Church, New Carlisle Historical Society or the American Legion Post #297 Auxiliary Unit.  To send online condolences, please visit www.kaniewski.com.  The family would like to extend a heartfelt to the workers at Hamilton Grove.  They loved and treated her like their own family.
