Irene Joy Carlson

Irene Joy Carlson, 73, of South Bend, passed away on Tuesday August 20, 2024 at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, IN.  She was born in South Bend to the late Richard Dale and Eleanor Marie (Roeme) Carlson.  Joy was also preceded in death by her sister, Marie Koons and her brother, John Carlson.  She is survived by her husband, David Drajer, her daughter, Jennifer (Troy) Carlson-Kline of South Bend, two sisters, Billie Joanne VandeZande of Fort Wayne, IN and Bonnie Carlson of South Bend and by her brother, Fred (Sue) Carlson of Osceola, IN.  Joy owned her own business and retired in 2007.  She enjoyed antiques, flowers, gardening and was a big NASCAR fan.  Joy was a loving mother, wife and sister and loved being surrounded by family and friends at her pool.  A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday August 30, 2024 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where friends may visit for two hours prior to the service.
