Helen M. Zagrzejewski, 83, of Granger, Indiana passed away at 10:24 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2026, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.  Helen was born on March 19, 1942 in South Bend to Wilfred John “Jack” Lavallee and Louise (Horkey) Lavallee.  She had lived in the same home in Granger for sixty-five years.  Helen retired from St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in 2020, where she was employed as a Rehab Assistant and Aquatics Therapist.  On July 1, 1961 in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, she married George E. Zagrzejewski, who survives.  She is also survived by four daughters, Shari (Tony) Ransberger of White Pigeon, Michigan, Sandi Kurowski of Dyer, Indiana, Shelli (Richard) Broadbent of Carmel, Indiana and Stephani (Tom) Hedrick of Carmel, Indiana; 16 grandchildren, Richard Broadbent, III (Trey), Zachary (Kenna) Broadbent, Caleb Kurowski, Hannah Kurowski (Stephen Sherman), Nicole (Corey) Happner, Luke Kurowski, Peter Kurowski, Kristopher (Anna) Ransberger, Julia Broadbent, Ruth Kurowski, (M. Myers), Elijah Hedrick (Jaeden Ailes), Elizabeth Hedrick (Michael Walters), Elaina Broadbent, Ava Hedrick, Ana Hedrick and Tommy Hedrick; four great-grandchildren, Norah Happner, Iris Happner, Etta Broadbent, Rowan Airgood, and “one on the way”;  several nieces and nephews, and many friends of the family. Helen was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Evelyn Happner and her brother, Francis Lavallee. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2026 in St. Pius X Church. A visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. Tuesday in the church.  Helen enjoyed swimming. She taught private swimming lessons for over ten years, teaching over 10, 000 children how to swim.  She was an avid Cubs fan and was very excited when they won World Series. Helen was also a huge Notre Dame fan and was a season ticket holder for the Womens Basketball team for years.  She enjoyed the outdoors and camping with her husband, family and friends. Helen also enjoyed reading, daily crossword puzzles and spending time with her family and friends. Kaniewski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  “ This Bud’s for you Mom”
