Helen Elizabeth Martinkowski

Helen Elizabeth Martinkowski, 91, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 6:29 a.m. Monday, November 11, 2024, in Embrace Care of South Bend.  Helen was born on February 15, 1933 in South Bend, Indiana to Steven and Helen (Nemeti) Nagy.  On June 8, 1957, she married James R. Martinkowski who preceded her in death on March 6, 2010.  Helen is survived by her daughter, Sherry I. Martinkowski of South Bend, Indiana and her son, James S. Martinkowski of Chicago, Illinois.  Helen retired from 1st Source Bank in 1999 after 15 years of service, but continued to work there part time from 1999 until 2020.  She previously was employed by Mailings Shoes, Associates, Newmans, and Head Start.  A loving and devoted mother, a good friend to many, she had a unique sense of humor and a smile that lit up the room.  She was very special and will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her children.  Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 14, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana where a parish rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024 at Corpus Christi Church at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation in the church from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.  Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.   The family wishes to thank Caring Cove Hospice and EmbraceCare.  In lieu of flowers, memorial Contributions may be made to Corpus Christi Church.
