Harry William Carlton, Jr., 84, of South Bend, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 in Ormond Beach, Florida. He was born on November 3, 1934 in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Harry William, Sr. and Mary (Taylor) Carlton. On February 17, 1962, he married Jane A. Colglazier, who survives. Harry is also survived by two daughters, Fashawn A. (Richard) Burgess of South Bend, Indiana and Cora Lee (Jim) Lavengood of Osceola, Indiana; one son, Tim R. (Cynthia) Carlton of New Carlisle, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Brandon and Alicia Carlton, Sarah (Daniel) Gryp, Rebecca (Nate) Morawski, Joshua, Isabel and Taylor Lavengood; and seven great-grandchildren, Ava, Logan, Dylan, Gavin, Aubrey, Nathan, and Hunter. Along with his parents; he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Jane Francis and Emma Carlton; and three brothers, Richard, Harold and Merle Carlton. Harry was veteran of the United States Navy, where he served on the U.S.S. Worcester from 1957 until 1962. Harry was employed at Torrington, Bertrand Products and a heavy equipment operator for Local 150 and throughout his life was a farmer in which he was very proud. Harry was an avid golfer, enjoyed snowmobiling, playing cards, dancing and traveling, but most of all, vacationing with his family. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 16, 2018 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend, IN. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 17, 2018 in the funeral home, with visitation from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., prior to the service.
