Harold H. Yager

Harold H. Yager, 95 of Dowagiac, Michigan, formerly of South Bend, Indiana and Chicago, Illinois passed away at home on Wednesday, April 26, 2023.  He was born on January 12, 1928 in Low Wassie, Missouri to Charlie and Vivian (Gosnell) Yager.  Harold had lived in Dowagiac, Michigan since 2022, coming from South Bend, Indiana.  Harold had also lived in Chicago, Illinois for 45 years.  He had been employed with Arkansas Best Trucking for 13 years and was a Branch Manager for A & H Trucking in Chicago.  On January 30, 1948 in St. Louis, Missouri he married Ella Norma Dean Manlove, who preceded him in death on April 17, 2015.  He was also preceded in death by his sister Shirley Roberts; and two brothers, Crawford and Leonard Yager.  Harold is survived by three daughters, Gayle (Arthur) Lynch of Grayslake, Illinois, Janet (Michael) Pleasant of Dowagiac, Michigan and Dena (Louis) Ray of Plano, Texas; 8 grandchildren, Tricia, Christopher, Niki, Matthew, Melissa Ryan, Austin and Michaela; and 13 great-grandchildren.  Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2023 in The Cathedral of St. James  Episcopal Church. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday in the church.  Harold was a W.W. II Navy Veteran.  He enjoyed golfing, gardening and playing Bridge.  He was a die hard Chicago Cubs, Blackhawks and Bulls fan.  Kaniewski Funeral Home, South Bend, Indiana is in charge of arrangements.
