Gerald L. Shidaker, 83, of South Bend, beloved husband, brother, and uncle, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Center for Hospice, Raclin House, Mishawaka, IN. He was born on December 26, 1942, in Tallahassee, FL, to the late Gerald R. and Helen P. (Bucher) Shidaker. He graduated from South Bend Central High School and the University of Indiana, Bloomington, IN. On January 19, 1980 Jerry married Ann E. Musialik, at St. Adalbert's Church in South Bend, Indiana. He then went on to get his law degree from Thomas Cooley Law School. Mr. Shidaker was a Private Practice Attorney for many years. Gerald was a Parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church, a United States Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post #50. He was also a member of the Chopin Fine Arts Club, the Elks Lodge #360, the University Club at Notre Dame and the Indiana State and St. Joseph County Bar. Gerald was preceded in death by his wife Ann and his brother Thomas M. Shidaker. He is survived by his sister-in-law JoAnne Shidaker of Frederic, WI, his nieces, Amy (Joshua) Nixon of Minneapolis, MN and Suzanne Musialik of FL, and nephews, Thomas J. (Angel) Shidaker of South Bend, IN and George Musialik of Elkhart, IN, along with great-nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at St. Adalbert Catholic Church, 2505 S. Grace St., South Bend, where friends may visit for one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lynch Syndrome advocacy organization Alive and Kick’n at https://www.aliveandkickn.org.
