Gayle E. Garrage, 78, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away at 11:13 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2025, in the Raclin House, Mishawaka, Indiana. Gayle was born on October 5, 1946, in South Bend, to Donald R. Wilson, Sr. and Bertha (Cowgill) Wilson and was a lifelong resident. She retired from the South Bend Community School Corporation where she was employed as a secretary for 32 years. After retiring from the school corporation, Gayle worked for the Elkhart and St. Joseph County Head Start Consortium for 5 years. On August 2, 1988, she married Mike Garrage, who survives. Gayle is also survived by her daughter, Jacqueline (Brian) Nemeth of Edwardsburg, Michigan; two sons, Michael T. Garrage and Timothy J. Garrage, both of South Bend, Indiana; four grandchildren, Zachary Nemeth (Allison), Brianna Pancek (Alex), Joseph Garrage and Chelsey Garrage; two great grandchildren, Jordan Astorga and Benjamin Pancek; her sister, Colletta Garrage of South Bend, Indiana; her brother, Robert (Jacqueline) Wilson of Buchanan, Michigan. Gayle was preceded in death by her brother Donald Wilson and her sister-in-law, Joan Wilson of New Carlisle, Indiana. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. EST, Wednesday, February 12, 2025, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana. Burial will follow in New Carlisle Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Gayle was a 1965 graduate of New Carlisle High School. She enjoyed genealogy, photography and scrapbooking. Gayle loved to make the holidays special for her family. She loved to spend time with friends, family, and especially making memories with her grandchildren.
