Gary Quinton Whitfield, 76, passed away on December 6, 2025 in Mishawaka, Indiana. The son of the late Quinton and Lucinda Whitfield. Gary was born on November 27, 1949, in South Bend. He is survived by his wife; Andrea; a twin sister, Renee Hochstetter and her husband, William; and a brother, Paul and his wife, Kathleen. Other survivors include nephews and nieces: Ann Burns, Fr. Peter Whitfield, Kateri Larakers, Flannery Whitfield, Thomas Whitfield and Blaise Whitfield. Gary was an avid Notre Dame, Bears and Cubs fan. Gary was a graduate of Holy Cross Grade School and St. Joseph High School. He attended Indiana University South Bend. He was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church, which is known for its faith statement, “Nothing is far from God.”
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025 at St. Monica Catholic Church from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am in the church with Fr. Peter Whitfield presiding. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Gary’s honor to St. Monica Catholic Church.
