Frances “Fran” Zielinski, 83, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 7:55 p.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2025, in the Raclin House.
Fran was born on January 5, 1942 in South Bend to Eugene A. and Rose B. (Bardo) Vascil, and was a lifelong resident. She worked in the Lunchroom at Holy Family School for 30 years, retiring in 2009. On September 7, 1963, in St. Pius X Church, she married Thomas M. Zielinski, who preceded her in death on October 11, 2019. Fran was also preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Zielinski; and her sister, Monica Potasnik. Fran is survived by her son, Michael (Natasha) of Denver, North Carolina; one grandson, Will Zielinski; and her brother, Stephen (Michelle) Vascil of Granger, Indiana. Fran was a 1960 graduate of Washington-Clay High School and was a Chair Person for many class reunions. She was a member of St. Casimir Parish, where she was very active in fundraising events.
Fran will be remembered for her kind heart, warm smile, and quiet generosity. She had a special gift for making others feel welcome and at ease, and she loved opening her home to family, friends, and children.
In keeping with Fran’s private nature, there will be no visitation or services. She will be laid to rest alongside her late husband and son.
