Evelyn K. Gadacz Obituary

Evelyn K. Gadacz, 91, of Mishawaka, Indiana passed away at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, December 14, 2025, at North Woods Village in Mishawaka.  Evelyn was born on March 7, 1934 in South Bend, Indiana to Stanley and Florence (Babicz) Leszczynski. On June 18, 1955 in St. Casimir's Catholic Church, South Bend, she married Chester L. Gadacz, who preceded her in death on April 13, 2001.  She was also preceded in death by three sisters and their spouses:  Louise (Richard) Janowiak, Lucille (Sylvester) Gadacz, and Marie (Walter) Stefaniak; and three brothers, Frank (Evelyn), John, and Stanley (Claudette) Leszczynski.  Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Ann DuBree, her husband Kevin and their children, Brendan and Sarah; two sons -- David Chester Gadacz, his wife Dianna and their children, Brenton, Autumn, Nicole, Corey and Matthew; and Daniel Leo Gadacz, his wife Pamela and their children, Ryan and Cortney;  along with 17 great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law Rita Leszczynski and many nieces and nephews.

She retired in July 2002 from the Penn Township Trustee’s Office, where she was employed as the Supervisor of Poor Relief.  The real joy in Evelyn's life was found in spending time with and loving her family. She treasured family celebrations and holidays. Cards, dogs, bingo and going for ice cream and cheeseburgers were things she found enjoyment in doing.  You could ask her "do you want to go" and before you could even tell her where, she was ready to go out in the world with you. She was loved so very much and will be greatly missed.

On Saturday December 27, 2025, services will begin with a visitation at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony de Padua Church, South Bend, followed by a Rosary at 11:15 am and a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:30 a.m.  Evelyn was a member of St. Anthony de Padua Church.  She preferred that any memorial contributions  be directed to St Anthony de Padua Church Building Fund in lieu of flowers.

Her family extends their gratitude for the care and support received from the North Woods Village Memory and Assisted Living Care Facility.  Thanks also to Paradigm Health (hospice) who assisted with making her final days comfortable.
