Evelyn D. Lewis

Evelyn D. Lewis, 101, of New Carlisle, Indiana passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023. She was born on May 2, 1922 in Dayton, Michigan to the late Lee Roy and Lillian B. (Redding) Seymour. On January 19, 1941 she married Robert W. Lewis who preceded her in death on February 12, 1991. She was also preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Patricia Lewis, one son-in-law, Richard Baker, one sister and three brothers.

Evelyn is survived by four children, Gene E. Lewis of Mishawaka, Indiana, Barbara Ann Baker of New Carlisle, Indiana, Ralph L. Lewis of New Carlisle, Indiana and Robert A. (Susan) Lewis of New Carlisle, Indiana, eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and fourteen great-great grandchildren.

Evelyn loved to attend church, in which she participated in many different church choirs. She enjoyed quilting and taking part in the New Carlisle home economics club. Evelyn loved to spend time gardening.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at The Hamilton Church, 31519 Chicago Trail, New Carlisle, IN 46552 from 11:00 am edt until 12:00 pm edt. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm edt in the church. Burial will follow in the Hamilton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Evelyn’s honor to The Hamilton Cemetery Foundation.
