Edward R. Schrader

Edward R. Schrader, 87, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 11:06 a.m. Monday, October 30, 2023, in his home.  Edward was born on September 6, 1936 in South Bend to Edward and Mildred (Claunch) Schrader.  He was employed for 16 years as a machine operator at Weyerhauser.  On May 10, 1975, in South Bend, he married Kathleen Erick, who survives.  Edward is also survived by two daughters, Lori (Lee) Hagedorn and Jamie (Prabhat) Kharga both of North Liberty, Indiana; two sons, Jeff (Jennifer) Schrader of South Bend, Indiana and Jason Scott Schrader of Crown Point, Indiana; six grandchildren, Kristy (Jay) Brennan, Eric Bueno, Maya Kharga, Elizabeth Schrader, Joseph Schrader, and Zach Schrader; three great-grandchildren, Mari, Matthew and Mason Brennan; one sister, Janet Rakowski of Niles, Michigan; one brother, Don Schrader of Wyoming, Michigan; one sister-in-law, Trish (Louie Pola) Erick of Mishawaka, Indiana; and one brother-in-law, Jeff Rankin of Osceola, Indiana.  Edward was preceded in death by his parents,  Edward and Mildred Schrader; two sons, Kevin Edward Schrader and Richard A. Schrader; two sisters-in-law, Jennifer Rankin and LaVerne Schrader; and one brother-in-law, Hank Rakowski. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday November 6, 2023 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana.  A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.   Edward served in the United States Army from 1956 – 1962.  He was a train enthusiast.  To send online condolences please visit kaniewski.com
