Edward Pio Flynt was born and peacefully entered into eternal life in the arms of his parents on March 8, 2026.
Edward was born in South Bend, IN to Joshua Edward and Mary Noreen (Ladewski) Flynt at 2:44 pm. He was a beautiful gift from God and weighed 5 lb 12 oz and was 19 inches long. He lived for 99 minutes before passing at 4:23 pm as the result of his bilateral renal agenesis.
Although Edward’s time here with us was brief, it was more than we expected, and we cherished every moment of it. We are comforted that he received the sacraments of baptism and confirmation and that many family members had the opportunity to meet him, snuggle him, and tell him how much he is loved. He will forever be a part of our family.
In addition to his parents, Edward will be dearly missed by his siblings, Norah and Paul, paternal grandparents, Donald and Gina Flynt of Ballston Lake, NY, and maternal grandparents, Patrick and Rosemary Ladewski of New Carlisle, IN, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
We are grateful for the compassion and support of nurses Lauren and Nicole from the Journey Through Bereavement team at Beacon Memorial Hospital and Dr. Matt from the Center for Hospice Care, and the outpouring of prayers and love from the dear family members, friends, and colleagues who accompanied us throughout Mary’s pregnancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 19 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Granger. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00 am. Edward will be laid to rest in a private burial at Cedar Grove Cemetery on the campus of the University of Notre Dame.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to either St. Pius X Catholic Church or the Journey Through Bereavement program. Donations to St. Pius X Catholic Church will be used to purchase a statue of St. Padre Pio in memory of Edward Pio for the parish. Please write "Padre Pio statue" in the notes section online or on your check.
