Dorothy A. Jeske

Dorothy A Jeske, 100, of South Bend, IN, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at her Darden Group Home. She was born on January 19, 1924 in South Bend, IN to Frank and Mary Kopinski.

On June 26, 1948 in St. Stanislaus Church, South Bend, IN, she married Robert E Jeske, who preceded her in death in 2006. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Ellen (Eugene) Wolbers of Novi, MI; a son, Michael D Jeske of South Bend, IN; two grandsons, Jason (Donna) Wolbers of South Lyon, MI and Jim (Amanda) Wolbers of Royal Oak, MI; two sisters-in-law, Mary Ann (Norbert) Kopinski and Mary Lou (James) Jeske. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Lucille (Chester) Janowczyk and Beatrice (Sylvester) Grohowski; her brother Norbert (Mary Ann) Kopinski and two brothers who died as babies, Clemy and Valentine.

Dorothy attended St Stanislaus Catholic elementary school and South Bend Catholic high school. She worked as an accountant at Gilberts clothing store early in her career, and later in life as Secretary to St. Joseph County Probate Court Judge, Frank X Kopinski for 18 years, followed by a manager's position for 5 years in the St Joseph County Clerk's Office before retiring. She was an active member of St Stanislaus Catholic Church in South Bend, serving as a Reader and Eucharistic Minister at Masses, a member of the Parish Council and Finance Committee, the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary, and the Good Will Society. She was also active with her husband, Robert, in the South Bend German Club.

Dorothy enjoyed reading and doing word puzzles, playing cards, visiting casinos, travel with family, using her computer until her vision no longer allowed, and avidly following the Notre Dame men's and women's sport teams. 

Visitation will take place from 4 until 7 pm on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N Bendix Drive, South Bend.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 in Holy Cross Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
