Doris K. Miller

Doris K. Miller, 100, of New Carlisle, Indiana passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026 surrounded by her family. She was born on April 2, 1926 in South Bend, Indiana to the late George and Esther (Fisher) Peterson. On April 1, 1945 she married Arnold L. Miller who preceded her in passing on September 22, 2022. Doris was also preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Dodd and one brother, Dale Peterson. She is survived by one daughter, Peggy (Steven) Williams of Denton, Texas, two sons, Mark Miller of New Carlisle, Indiana and Bruce (Brandie) Miller of South Lebanon, Ohio, 5 grandchildren, Mindy Plumbeck, Kara Plumbeck, Scott Williams, Brody Miller and Carson Miller and one great grandchild, Brielle Randle.

Doris met her life partner, Arnold "Muggs" Miller as he crashed her 11th birthday party and won her over with his charm and a gift of a quarter.  They celebrated 77 years of marriage in 2022.  Together they raised their 3 children in New Carlisle and enjoyed among other things camper traveling, snowmobiling, Hudson Lake cottage life, and quarter midget racing, before their retirement years.  Scottsdale Arizona became their snowbird home where they met many likeminded seniors.  Playing cards with family and friends, golf, Rock Hound adventures and great relationships filled those years. Doris was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and was one of the best armchair coaches in the business.

 A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at the New Carlisle United Methodist Church, 300 E. Compton Street, New Carlisle, IN 46552 at 2:00 pm EDT. Memorial contributions may be made to Elara Caring Hospice, 314 Catalpa Suites E&F, Mishawaka, IN 46545 in Doris’s honor.
