Donalee A. (Klutz) Markiewicz

Donalee A. Markiewicz, of South Bend, IN, died peacefully at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Hamilton Grove in New Carlisle, IN at the age of 82.

Donalee was born on October 6, 1939 to the late Joseph M. and Gertrude T (Kitkowski) Klutz in Danville, PA, and was a lifelong area resident. Along with her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband James Markiewicz; and a son-in-law, Bob S. Clements.

Donalee graduated in 1957 from St. Joseph High School, where she was a cheerleader for four years.

On July 9, 1960, as Donalee A. Klutz, she married her high school sweetheart James L. Markiewicz at St. Matthew Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. James passed away on July 18, 2015.

Donalee is survived by her children, Lori Clements of Fort Wright, KY; Linda (Bob) Schaeper of South Bend, IN; Lisa (Tim) Scott of New Carlisle, IN; and Michael Markiewicz of South Bend, IN; grandchildren, Derek (Joey Wise) Scott; Conner Scott, Emily Clements; Olivia (Chris) Garrett; Austin Markiewicz; Cheryl (Kevin) Kucharski; Laura (Joe) Cole; Christopher (fiancé, Sarah Whitcomb) Schaeper; David Schaeper; a great granddaughter, Victoria Kucharski; and one sister, Carolyn V. (Paul) Chandler of Amherst, WI.

Donalee was a member of Corpus Christi Parish for many years, where she belonged to the Altar & Rosary Society and was a past Wedding Reception Coordinator. She was a loving mother with undeniable strength during her lifetime. She had a great sense of humor and always looked at the bright side of life. Mom’s love of Notre Dame Sports was unmatched. She loved shopping and socializing and enjoyed going to monthly luncheons with her lifelong high school friends. Family was important to her and her biggest joy was being a grandmother.

Visitation will begin with a Parish Rosary at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2022 and continue until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2822 Corpus Christi Drive, South Bend, IN, with Rev. Daryl Rybicki officiating.  Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, South Bend, IN.
