Dixie L. (Grounds) Rospopo

South Bend, IN – Dixie L. (Grounds) Rospopo, 85 of South Bend, passed away at 3:00pm on Monday, March 9, 2020.  She was born on April 25, 1934 in South Bend, to Walter and Valda (Buck) Grounds, both of whom preceded her in death.  Also preceding her in death were one brother, Randy Grounds, and three sisters, Sharon Oveson, Judy Lott, and Kathy Blume.  On September 12, 1953, she married Richard Rospopo, who preceded her in death on May 17, 2007.  She retired from Indiana University at South Bend in 1996.  She is survived by her children, Thomas (Michelle) Rospopo, and Cheryl Klota; two grandsons, Christopher (Nicole) Klota and Adam (Ashley) Klota, and two great grandchildren, Grace Klota and Ryan Klota.  Also surviving are her brother, James (Rae Anne) Grounds, sisters-in-law, Ann Rospopo and Evelyn (Gary) Weldy.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Christ the King Catholic Church in South Bend on Friday, March 13, 2020, at 10:00am. Friends and family will be received from 3pm until 7pm, Thursday, March 12 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 North Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish rosary will be prayed at 6:30pm.  Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend.  The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Heart to Heart Hospice.
