Deborah L. (Herrschop) Odynski

Deborah L. Odynski, 72, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 10:45 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2023 in Dujarie House at Holy Cross Village, Notre Dame, IN, following an extended illness.

She was born on October 8, 1950 to the late Luke and Marjorie (Beeman) Herrschop in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident.  Along with her parents; she was preceded in death by her sister, Diane Retek; and a brother, Dennis Herrschop.

Deborah graduated in 1969 from Riley High School in South Bend.

She retired in December 2018 from Notre Dame Federal Credit Union, where she worked in the Collections Department for 35 years.

On September 20, 1975, as Deborah L. Herrschop, she married Kenneth J. Odynski at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in South Bend, IN.   She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Kenneth Odynski of South Bend, IN; two sons, Jeffrey (Tara Stokes) Odynski of South Bend, IN; Ryan (Holly) Odynski of South Bend, IN; two grandchildren, Harper and Hunter Odynski, both of South Bend, IN; one brother, Donald Herrschop of Granger, IN; a sister-in-law, Connie Herrschop of Rantoul, IL; and a brother-in-law, David Retek of Granger, IN. 

Deborah was a member of St. John the Baptist Parish and PNA #83 in South Bend.  She enjoyed crafting and baking with her sister and sister-in-law; loved vacationing to her favorite spot at Orange Lake Country Club in Florida; and most of all spending time with her family.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2023 in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, followed by a Catholic Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend, IN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the: National Kidney Foundation or Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
