David Brian Korabek Obituary

David Brian Korabek was born on April 25, 1957 to Aloysius and Dorothy Korabek in South Bend, IN. He lived the majority of his life in the South Bend area, and spent several years working in Austin, Texas in the early 1980’s. David graduated from Clay High School and Indiana University, and worked in the electronic sales and service industry for many years before retiring.

David was an avid reader and loved the Packers, Notre Dame Football, IU basketball and his family and friends. David did not have children of his own, but he cherished and loved all of his many nieces and nephews (many of which lovingly referred to him as Uncle Buck). David was very headstrong, independent, and driven, which served him well in life as he worked to overcome his physical challenges, which he did with grace and very few complaints. But if he had a complaint, you would definitely know about it. He voiced his opinions very freely and openly and he did not care who he told, which was one of his most endearing qualities.

David was preceded in death by his parents Aloysius and Dorothy (Mohn) Korabek. He is survived by two sisters and two brothers, Carla Bogunia of Bremen, Stanley (Mary Ann) Korabek of Granger, Cynthia (Chuck) Pinkowski of South Bend, and Curtis (Shirley) Korabek of Land O Lakes, Florida. David had 16 nieces and nephews, all of which brought him joy and contributed to his life in many wonderful ways. They are Bruce, Christopher, Justin, Nathan, Courtney, Jacqueline, Allison, Mark, Cari, Jennifer, Charlie, Michael, Joey, Mallory, Cheree, and Kyle. His friends were also very important part of his life for many years: Dave Ansbaugh, Sam Bennett, John Todd, Mark Bourden, and Paul Lacey. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 1:30 pm on Thursday, January 3, 2019 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend, IN. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Victory Home of Charity, 780 Ridge Rd., Lackawana, NY 14218-1682. Online condolences may be left at www.kaniewsk.com.
