David A. Weeks Obituary

The family of David A. Weeks, of South Bend, Indiana, is saddened to announce he passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, in his home at the age of 88.  Dave was born on September 15, 1936, in Schroon Lake, New York to Lawrence Weeks and Agnes Pitkin.  He is preceded in death by them, three brothers, two sisters-in-law, a grandson, and a nephew.

Surviving from his first marriage are three daughters Fern (Doug) Clement and Celeste Weeks, Caldwell, Idaho, and Norine (Dan) Locke, Grants Pass, Oregon.  Four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, five nieces, three nephews, and their families as well.

Dave joined the Army in 1961stationed in El Paso, Texas.  He married the love of his life, Hortense Ramirez, on March 23, 1962.  She survives along with their six children: Vicky (Juan) Hernandez, South Bend, Indiana; Felix (Cha’velle) Weeks, Norfolk, Virginia; Patricia Weeks (Manuel Briones); Pamela (Franchot) Laurence, South Bend, Indiana; Guy (Tina) Weeks, Fairhope, Alabama; and Misty (Juan) Cuevas, South Bend, Indiana.  Together they have ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.  As a special notation, his caring neighbors as well.

Dave worked many full-time jobs including part time with Studebaker, Barney’s Windows & Doors, and other side work.  He finally decided to hang up his tools to retire from RACO, after 37 years, on January 2, 2001.

Two favorite pass times were sharing his youth stories and watching Notre Dame football games while tailgating at home with their poodle honey bear and their family.  Dave enjoyed traveling by car and train as well as camping, swimming, and listening to country music, especially Johnny Cash.  We will always carry a bit of Dave in all of us, especially when we “walk the line” through life’s challenges.

Aside from the hardworking man was a caring person for all who were close to him.  Dave’s heart was filled with love for his entire family that shined through the memorable moments we will always cherish.

Private arrangements are Dave’s final wishes.
