David Ingles Obituary

David Brian Ingles, beloved brother, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend passed away on May 13th, 2022, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, IN. He was 57 years old and a resident of Galien, MI. David was preceded in death by his father, Duane Ingles; his mother, Patricia Ingles (Durkin); and nephew, Jon Sherwood. David leaves behind a large family, including sons David J. Ingles Sr. (Ashley Anastasio) of New Carlisle, IN, Devin Ingles (Sonja) of Laporte, IN, Domonique Patstone of South Bend, IN, Nathan L. Ingles of South Bend, IN, and John Michael Patstone (Angela) of Fort Walton, FL, as well as daughter Donna Ingles (Stefan Behenna) of Laporte, IN; his sister Debra Sherwood of South Bend, IN; his brothers, Dennis Ingles (Sharon) of South Bend, IN, and Daren Ingles (Jeanine Pesak) of Mishawaka, IN; his grandsons, David Ingles Jr., Seth Ingles, Braelin Ingles, Zyte Ingles, and Azrael Patstone; and his granddaughters, Kierrah Anastasio, Sharayah Anastasio-Ingles, Cassidy Patstone, Cailynn Patstone, and Indigo Ingles, along with his nieces, Tracy Knepple (Eric) of Cassopolis, MI, Stacy Gless (Trenton) of Vandalia, MI, and Jennica Kampus (Bryan) of South Bend, IN; numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews; and a large community of friends, including Carlos Anastasio, Kevin Clickner, and Kim Berger.
David was born January 23, 1965, in South Bend, IN. He graduated from LaSalle High School before joining the United States Army, where he served his country for 21 years, both on active duty and as part of the reserves. He rose to the rank of Sergeant First Class. While in both active military and the reserves, David taught classes on how to drive military vehicles. David was a part of the trucking community before joining Cleveland Cliffs, formerly IN Tek/IN Kote. He was a member of Steelworkers Union 9231. David was also a member of the American Legion in Galien, MI.
Born with an infectious laugh, David had a great sense of humor. He kept a folder of jokes and was always quick to share a funny meme. David loved science fiction and attended a number of comic-cons throughout the years. Family was very important to him. He enjoyed planning family get-togethers, including annual reunions. An avid ancestry buff, he also dedicated time to exploring the family tree and connecting with cousins and other distant relations. He was also a motorcycle enthusiast. David believed that learning was a task of a lifetime, so he continued his education over the years, earning numerous certificates, degrees, and awards.
But his greatest joy was his children, who often referred to him as Superman. He proudly shared their accomplishments, cheered them on, and was their staunchest supporter during challenging times, teaching them to work hard and strive for better. David believed in being kind, standing up for what you believe in, and that if you have something to say, say it. He could be counted on to help a friend, provide a shoulder to cry on, and give wise advice. David never left an “I love you” unsaid or a joke untold. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
