Curtis Lynn Scott, Sr. Obituary

Curtis Lynn Scott, age 63, of South Bend, Indiana, was born in Niles, Michigan, on March 6, 1962, and passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025. He was the son of the late Jack Walter Scott Sr. and Willa Mae Scott.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Moses “Chip” Scott.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his devoted wife of 33 years, Elayne (Orr) Scott; his four children, Ricky (Scott) Murphy, Curtis Scott Jr., Tiffanie Scott, and Brittaney Orr; and seven grandchildren: Adrian, Ric’kyjah, Cierra, Zaryah, Bre’janae, Bryce, and C’ynia.

Also left to cherish his memory are his loving siblings: Barbara, Jack Jr Scott, Cathy Harris, Gwendolyn (Edward) Singer, Stanley Scott, Marcia Scott, and Damon (Yuneker) Scott; a special niece, Moniesha Smedley and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Curtis had a deep passion for sports—especially cheering on his favorite team, Notre Dame, alongside his son, Curtis Jr. He enjoyed watching Westerns, firing up the grill for memorable BBQs with his son Ricky and their loved ones, and sharing laughter and heartfelt moments with his daughter, Tiffanie. Their bond was especially close—Tiffanie stood by her father with unwavering love and support, and their talks were filled with laughter, honesty, and deep understanding. Curtis’s love for his children was endless; each of them held a special place in his heart, and he cherished every moment spent together . He and his beloved wife, whom he always introduced as his best friend, shared a deep and genuine love for one another. They stood by each other through every season of life, taking pride in maintaining their beautiful homes and creating a warm, welcoming space where family and friends could gather and make lasting memories.

One of Curtis’s greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren. He loved having them all together during fun-filled summer breaks, creating memories that will be treasured for generations to come.

Curtis will be remembered for his big heart, his sense of humor, and the love he poured into everyone around him. He had a way of making people feel seen, loved, and welcomed—whether through a joke, a meal off the grill, or a simple conversation that meant the world. His legacy lives on through the memories he created, the laughter he shared, and the love he instilled in his family. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
