Christine M. "Chris" (Bladecki) DeLater

Christine M. “Chris” DeLater, 69, of New Carlisle, IN, passed away peacefully in her home at 1:00 p.m. Thursday June 10, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on April 28, 1952 to the late Anthony and Anna (Banul) Bladecki in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident of New Carlisle, IN.  Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Cathy Jaronik.

On July 7, 1973, as Christine M. Bladecki, she married Jeffery R. DeLater in St. John Kanty Catholic Church in Rolling Prairie, IN. 

Chris retired in 2017, as the Vice President of Hamilton Communities in New Carlisle, IN, where she worked for 35 years.

Chris is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Jeffery “Jeff” DeLater of New Carlisle, IN; two loving daughters, Jenny (husband Chris) Vogelsang of Fishers, IN; Brenda (husband Josh) Schweizer of New Carlisle, IN: four grandchildren, Bradey and Wyatt Schweizer & Annie and Hudson Vogelsang; two sisters, Eileen Esposito of New Carlisle, IN; Diane (wife Susan) Bladecki of Newark, NJ; a brother, Rick (Laura) Bladecki of New Carlisle, IN; and several beloved nieces & nephews.

Chris was a longtime member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish in New Carlisle, IN where her and Jeff built a wonderful group of friendships that have lasted a lifetime.   She enjoyed gardening, crafting, baking, and singing.  She loved spending time in her flower garden & fairy garden with her granddaughter.  She was known for her sugar cookies and earned the nickname the Cookie Fairy as she shared her love for baking with family and friends. Chris’ love for all things Mickey began on her honeymoon with Jeff to Disney World.  Together they made many memories over her lifetime with family vacations to Disney.  She also loved to travel to the big city of New York to see her sister Diane where she shared many laughs, love and even more memories.  Chris had a huge heart and loved her family with all of it.   

Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 14, 2021 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, 55756 Tulip Road, New Carlisle, IN.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend, IN.
