Charles Damian Scherpereel

Charles Damian Scherpereel passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, September 20, 2025.

Charles was born on May 21, 1959, in Abilene, Texas to parents, Richard and Sara Scherpereel. He was the eldest brother to Sean and Aaron Scherpereel, and grew up in Kingsville, Texas.

Charles was known as a loving father, good friend, dog-lover, yogi, great storyteller, and hard worker. His personality brought joy and laughter to everyone he encountered. He was extremely talented with over 40 years of experience in instrumentation and control designs in the engineering field. Charles traveled the world leading many projects that are still drilling to this day. 

Charles loved playing with his kids and going swimming, camping, boating, fishing and traveling. He loved playing cards with the whole Scherpereel crew, watching movies, Notre Dame football, group fitness, music and dancing. Much can be said of his charisma, charm, and smile when telling his adventurous stories. 

He is survived by his brothers, Sean and Aaron; three children, Sarita, Sophie, and Mechie; grandchildren, Dariah, Penelope and Chloe; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved playing cards with “Uncle Damian”.

Charles will be laid to rest in South Bend, Indiana with his parents and grandparents and near the family farm full of many memories he shared with pride. His family carries his charisma, work ethic, and adventurous spirit in their hearts. Rest in peace hard worker, you deserve it.
