Catherine M. Denby

Catherine M. Denby, 75, of South Bend, passed away on Tuesday October 21, 2025 at the Portage Group Home, South Bend.  She was born on August 11, 1950, in Hammond, IN, to the late William and Valeria (Retsavitch) Wolff.  On June 11, 1977, as Catherine Wolff, she married Gregory G. Denby, who preceded her in death on November 17, 2020.  She was also preceded in death by her sister, Megan Wetts and a brother, Eric Wolff.  Catherine is survived by her two daughters, Megan (Jordan) Green of South Bend and Claire (Travis) Faas of Carmel, IN, her two sons, Luke (Corianne) Denby of Portland, OR and Nicholas (Tiffany) Denby of South Bend, two grandchildren, Rueben and Laurel Denby and by a brother, Gregory (Asyen) Wolff of Istanbul.  Mrs Denby worked as a Professor of English and World Literature for Ivy Tech for 10 years, before retiring in 2015.  She was a graduate of St. Mary's College, South Bend, where she received her Bachelor Degree.  She went on to receive her Masters Degree in Writing from the University of Notre Dame.  She received The Teacher Of The Year Award three out of five years from Ivy Tech.  She was also an avid reader.  There will be no services, cremation will take place.  To send online condolences, please visit http://www.kaniewski.com.
