Carolyn K. Grzesk

Carolyn K. Grzesk, 75, of South Bend, passed away on Tuesday April 1, 2025 at the Center for Hospice Raclin House, Mishawaka, IN.  She was born on September 21, 1949, in South Bend, to the late Alvin J. and Mary E. (Bickwermert) Berger and was a lifelong area resident.  On September 14, 1985, as Carolyn K. Berger, she married Gregory A. Grzesk, who survives. They were married for 39 years. Also surviving are her two daughters, Marie Grzesk and Sarah Grzesk, both of South Bend, a sister, Sister Mary Philip OSB of Ferdinand, IN, two brothers, George (Judy) Berger of Niles, MI and Phil (Cindy) Berger of CA; four sisters-in-law, Sue Berger and Linda Berger, both of South Bend and Kimberly Koszyk of South Bend and Pamela Cunningham of Pendleton, IN and by several nieces and nephews.  Carolyn worked as a self-employed house cleaner for 14 years. She also worked at Gates Chevy World for 5 years and retired from being an in-home caregiver for Home Instead. She was a Parishioner of St. Matthew Cathedral, South Bend and belonged to the Catholic Alumni Club. She enjoyed puzzles, playing cards, board games, going out to eat, watching the hallmark channel, and spending time with family and her dog Mia. Also proceeding her in death are her brothers Kenneth Berger, Rick Berger, Thomas Berger, Stephen Berger and Bill Berger. A visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday April 7, 2025 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday April 8, 2025 at the St. Matthew Cathedral, South Bend (meet directly at the Church).  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.  Memorial contributions may be made to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, The Women's Care Center or Pet Refuge.
