Calvin Lynn Frick (Cal) 71, passed away unexpectedly from this life on Sunday June 28, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was born June 21,1955 to Raymond D. and H. Joyce (Thomas) Frick in South Bend, Indiana. Cal married the love of his life Deborah (Debbie) Nowak-Frick 31 years ago on October 8, 1994, who survives. Cal is also survived by siblings Coleen Tomes, Colette (Sunset) Proctor, Kirk (Susie) Frick, Tim (Jacqui) Nowak, Laurie (Fred) Taghon, Julie Nowak, John (Lori) Nowak, Father-in-law Michael Nowak, 17 nieces and nephews, 27 great, and 3 great-great. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Kevin Frick, Mother-in-Law Nancy Nowak and brother-in-law Mike Tomes.
Cal graduated from LaSalle High School in 1973 and retired after 41 years from Unifrax in 2015. Cal was a very loving husband, brother, uncle and friend to all who touched him. Cal loved his sports and was a loyal fan of the Chicago White Sox and Chicago Blackhawks. He grew up playing every sport in season with his brothers and neighborhood kids. He loved to help teach any sport to others. He coached Little League at Eastside. He also enjoyed playing volleyball, softball, bowling and golf. He was a die-hard member of Bowler’s Country Club. He was a very patient, giving and loving person. Cal never met a stranger and wanted you to leave feeling better about yourself than when you sat down to talk.
Cal will be missed by many, especially those that he loved the most, his family and friends.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026 from 9:00 am until 10:00 am at the Bowlers Country Club, 55839 Pine Road, South Bend, IN 46619. A memorial service will take place at 10:00 am. Following the service, Cal’s wishes were for everyone to come, enjoy his passion of golf, bowling and social interaction along with food.
