Betty Jane Harman

Betty Jane Harman, 89, of Granger, Indiana, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024. She was born on March 11, 1935 in Connersville, Indiana to the late John M. and Juanita DeHaven Scholl. On June 20, 1958, she married Jack Kimes Harman who preceded her in death on July 3, 2003. Betty was also preceded in death by a half brother, Donald Scholl. She is survived by one son, Jon T. (Janet) Harman of Granger, Indiana; three grandchildren, Alexander (Edie) Harman, Zachary Harman and Sara Harman; two half brothers, Lewis Scholl and Paul Scholl, and a cousin, Susanne McLaughlin.

She graduated from Indiana University with an Education degree in 1957, and also obtained a Masters Degree in 1965. She taught elementary school in Columbus, Indiana for 24 years, retiring in 1992.

In retirement she lived in Granger and Fort Wayne, Indiana, and enjoyed reading, walking, swimming and spending time with family. She also spent a number of winters in Pine Island and Punta Gorda, Florida.

A private family graveside service will be held at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to any hospice of the donor’s choice in Betty’s honor.
