Anthony “Tony” M. Mersits, II, 59, of South Bend, IN, passed away unexpectedly at 8:24 a.m. Monday, December 5, 2022, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, IN.
He was born on December 13, 1962, to Anthony M. and Helen A. (Radich) Mersits in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident.
Tony graduated in 1981 from St. Joseph’s High School and went on to receive a B.B.A. degree in Business Management from the University of Notre Dame in 1985.
He was currently employed as a Branch Manager at Horizon Bank in Elkhart, IN for the past 5 years.
On July 1, 1989, he married Melissa A. Kurth at Holy Cross Catholic Church, South Bend, IN.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Melissa A. Mersits of South Bend, IN; his two daughters, Katelyn (Mike Pinkowski) Mersits of Mishawaka, IN; Meredith Mersits of Chicago, IL; his parents, Anthony M. and Helen A. Mersits of South Bend, IN; his sister, Anita (John Carpenter) McCombs of South Bend, IN; his brother, John Mersits of South Bend, IN; and his nephew, Joseph (Lindsey) McCombs of South Bend, IN. Additionally, he was survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins, honorary daughters, and loving friends.
He was preceded in death by a nephew, Kevin J. McCombs.
Tony was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing softball with the Happy Hour team, and was an all-around sports enthusiast. He most enjoyed watching his daughters play sports, especially volleyball. He enjoyed playing card games, like Euchre Cribbage, and never left out a teaching moment.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2022, at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1050 Wilber Street, South Bend, IN. Cremation will follow.
