Allen C. Bartmess

Allen Charles Bartmess left us on January 26th, 2025, after a battle with liver cancer.

Allen was born on Dec 13th, 1960, to Thomas and Vera (Darling) Bartmess in LaPorte, Indiana.

On March 10th, 2018, he married the love of his life, Kimberly Mickelson, who survives. Also surviving are his siblings, Susan McClaran, William (Julie) Bartmess, Marie Dodd, his stepsons David (Jodi) Briner, Derik (Jamie) Williamson, Robert (Jessica) Buck, his mother-in-law, Mary Ann Petro, his sister-in-law Annie (Eddie) Prentkowski, and many loving Nieces and Nephews and Step Grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Vera Bartmess, his father-in-law, Burt Mickelson, his sister-in-law, Amanda Freeman, his brother-in-law, Harry McClaran, his nephew, Adam Bartmess and his niece, Melissa Mason.

Allen was the head of facilities at Bosch Braking System Corporation for over 30 years.

Al was known for his extreme generosity to friends and family and instead of letting friends in need borrow their car, he just gave them one instead. The large iconic red and white barn on highway 20 was solely his, but he allowed both friends and family to use it as if it was their own. For many years he used his personal lawn mower to mow at the American Legion Post 297 where he was a member and would sometimes even stop on his way home to mow for a friend or family member.

Al was passionate about cars and through the years you may have seen him driving one of his pristine Corvettes or Cadillacs.

Al enjoyed golfing with his league, spending time with friends at the Legion, going for golf cart rides and sunsets on Hudson Lake.

Like his parents, he loved music and if you were lucky, you may have had the pleasure of watching him dance and sing along.

What Al enjoyed the most was being with his wife at home and would often ask her to make his favorite meals for him. He loved being spoiled by Kim and in return he was chivalrous with her until the very end, always making sure she was cared for and happy.

Allen will be missed immensely by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A graveside service for immediate family will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the American Legion Post 297 in his honor.
