Alice H. Cukrowicz

Alice H. Cukrowicz, 103, of South Bend, Indiana passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 9, 1921 in South Bend, Indiana to the late George and Stella (Starczewski) Szczechowski. On November 18, 1939 she married Ervin S. Cukrowicz who preceded her in death on February 16, 2002. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Esther Mumaw, Virginia Tomaszewski and Evelyn Deka, six brothers, Jery, John, Richard, Ben, Daniel and Clarence Szczechowski. Alice is survived by one son, Joseph G. Cukrowicz of South Bend, Indiana, four grandchildren, Crystal Cukrowicz of South Bend, Indiana, Monica (Jaycyn) Shultz of Bristol, Indiana, Tosha (J.D.) Putnam of Tennessee and Ashley (Bruce) Middleton of Mishawaka, Indiana, fourteen great grandchildren, Brianna, Neveah, C.J., Brittany, Christopher, Hunter, Blake, Cameron, Tanner, Kylee, Brooklyn, A.J., Jeremiah (Haili) and J.J., five great great grandchildren, Kayden, Korbin, Pheonix, Hayden and Harper and her better half of seventeen years Walter.

Alice worked for many years in the catering department at The University of Notre Dame. She also worked at Powell the Florist. Alice also was a part owner of Joe’s Tavern in South Bend. She enjoyed spending time with her family and cracking jokes. Alice loved her outdoor walks, going to the casino, dancing and playing cards.

A visitation for Alice will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr. South Bend, IN from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm in the funeral home. Cremation will follow. Online condolences may be left at www.kaniewski.com
