Aleta L. (Dodd) Mauer

Aleta L. Mauer, 78, of New Carlisle, IN, passed away at 5:01 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2026 in her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on April 11, 1948 to the late Russell and Claire (Murphy) Dodd in Lynn, MA, and has lived in New Carlisle, IN since 1991.

On October 27, 1985, as Aleta L. Skarbek, she married August W. Mauer at the New Carlisle Community Church.

Aleta is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, August W. Mauer of New Carlisle, IN; two daughters, Gina Marie (Michael) Shilts of New Carlisle, IN; Nickola Ann (Wayne) Rial of LaPorte, IN; two sons, Stanley Leo (Melissa) Minasian of Peru, IN; August William (Katherine) Mauer of Fairland, IN; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren, with one more joining the family in November 2026.

Aleta was a member of the New Carlisle Community Church, where she was involved with the Food Pantry for over 20 years. She was a Tribal Elder of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians of Oregon. Aleta enjoyed spending time with her family, who were her main priority and her life.

There will be no services.  Cremation will take place.
