Shirley Ruth (Heap) Garoutte

Shirley Ruth Garoutte, 85, of New Carlisle, IN passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018 in her home.

She was born to the late Clinton and Gladys (Stinson) Heap on March 9, 1933 in Morris, IL, and has lived in New Carlisle, IN for 62 years, coming from Yorkville, IL.  Along with her parents; she was also preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon Riemenschneider.

Shirley retired in 1988 from Hamilton Grove in New Carlisle, IN, where she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse (L.P.N.) and was the Director of Nursing for several years.

On July 3, 1954, as Shirley Ruth Heap, she married Thomas James Garoutte.  He passed away on November 18, 2009.

Shirley is survived by three daughters, Patricia (Richard) Sprague of New Carlisle, IN; Diane (Paul) Zahl of New Carlisle, IN; Jackalyn Luttrell of Sandwich, IL; one son, Jim (Robin) Garoutte of LaPorte, IN; grandchildren, Shannon and Meghan Sprague; David (Sarah) Zahl; Calyn (Lyle) DeNeve; Ryan (Maggie) Riemenschneider; Brittany Riemenschneider; Kathryn and Kyle Garoute; ten great grandchildren; Jordan, Loran, Lincoln, Chloe, Shelby, Riley, Daniel, Leah, Laurel, and Nathaniel: and one brother, Roger Heap of Riverside, CA.

Shirley loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Spending time with her family was her greatest joy. Shirley took delight in playing the piano, organ and accordion. She enjoyed sports, especially watching the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Blackhawks. She was also known for not passing up an opportunity to read a good book or go fishing with family. Shirley cared for and cherished her beloved dog, Kirby. Her generosity and kindness will be fondly remembered by many.

Funeral Services will take place at 1:00 P.M on Friday, June 8, 2018 in the Genesis Chapel at The Pointe at Hamilton Grove in New Carlisle, IN.  Burial will follow in New Carlisle Cemetery.
