Roslyn "Gail" Budzinski Obituary

Roslyn Gail Budzinski, 61, formerly of South Bend, Indiana passed away on April 15, 2018 in Ocala, Florida. Roslyn was born on August 11, 1956 in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, to the late Thomas Lloyd and Eleanor Rae (Pierce) Grey. Her family moved to South Bend when she was 5 years old. As a young child she had a habit of getting into her older siblings things, so they started calling her “Nosey Rosey”. Their mom did not like that name, so she said “Just call her Gail” which was her middle name. She has gone by that name ever since. As a child she enjoyed dancing, reading, crafts and music - all of which she continued to enjoy throughout her entire life.

Gail and Tom Budzinski met at a choir party while in high school, and became high school sweethearts and lifelong lovers. She married Tom on December 26, 1976 at Holy Cross Church in South Bend. It was in the middle of a blizzard, but they didn’t notice. They had two sons, Michael and Daniel. Gail was a devoted and loving mother. Her children were the center of her life. She would devote much time and effort to giving her kids lasting memories of great birthdays and holidays. She would help them and support them in their school, work, and extracurricular activities. Nobody loved their family more than her.

Even though Gail suffered from numerous medical problems, she never gave up enjoying life and living it to the fullest. When she and Tom retired to Florida, she continued her passions for ballroom dancing, traveling, and crafts as long as she could. When her body would not let her dance anymore she took up Mah-Jong. Her Mah-Jong partners describe her as smart, brave, courageous, and inspiring.

During her final years, she faced life with courage and as she endured even more serious medical issues. Her greatest joy this past year was when she found out that was she was going to be blessed with a grandchild. Right away, she did what she always does and started knitting blankets and booties for the baby. She was so excited to meet Penelope, her new granddaughter. The time they spent together was precious to her.

Gail is survived by her loving husband Thomas; two sons, Michael (Jamie) Budzinski of Parchment, Michigan and Daniel (Rachel Grandi) Budzinski of Amsterdam, Netherlands; her granddaughter, Penelope; two sisters, Patsy Howard of Ladson, South Carolina, and Judy McElravy of South Bend, Indiana; and one brother, Tommy Grey of McDonald, Tennessee.
