Robert Anderson, Jr.

Robert Anderson, Jr., 62, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 12, 2017 in his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on October 27, 1954 to the late Robert, Sr. and Virginia (Tribbey) Andersen in Lakeville, IN, and has lived in South Bend most of his life.  Along with his parents; he was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Jenny White; and a brother, Paul Eugene Andersen.

Robert graduated from Laville High School in 1973.  He was currently employed with Four Winds Casino, where he worked in the Security Department.

On August 9, 1975, he married Connie Mathews at Mayflower Baptist Church in South Bend, IN.      

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Connie Anderson of South Bend, IN; son, William (Maria) Anderson of South Bend, IN; daughter, Ginny (Christopher) Matthys of South Bend, IN; grandchildren, Austin, Alexander and Andrew Anderson; Margaret and Nicholas Matthys; his father-in-law, Clarence White of South Bend, IN; sister-in-law, Nancy (Roscoe) Hankins of Buchanan, MI; sister, Tranace Peters of Lakeville, IN; brother, Ricky (Aurelia) Andersen of South Bend, IN; sister, Betty Banghart of Mishawaka, IN; sister, Linda Haimbaugh of Arizona; brother, Randy Andersen of Niles, MI; and a sister-in-law, Linda Andersen of South Bend, IN.

Robert was an avid bowler with PNA #83 for many years.  He enjoyed listening to music; loved Notre Dame Football and Basketball; but most of all he dearly loved spending time with his family and they were his greatest joy.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, September 15, 2017 in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where a Pipe Ceremony will be held at 7:00 p.m.      

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, South Bend, IN, with Rev. Charles Zawistowski officiating.  Cremation with a private burial will follow at a later date.  

Robert’s family would like to thank Dr. Rafat Ansari, Brandi and all the staff at Michiana Hematology Oncology for their wonderful care which they provided to Robert.
