Dear Dornbos Family:

I am so grateful for the tremendous support Mr. Dornbos gave St. Joseph County Right-to-Life or so many years. His support saved the lives of many unborn babies. He has been remembered in my prayers.

This message is to Mrs. Dornbos and family. I'm an old Pony and proud of it! I want to add my condolences to your family. I can still see Coach at a Basketball game, always dressed in a suit and tie. By the end of the game, the suit coat was off and the tie was gone and the top button was open. That's how much he put into the game. Reading his obituary, took my breath away with all he had accomplished. God Bless him and his wife and family. Gloria Schultz Agay from the class of 1959

Our sincere condolences to the Dornbos family. It puts a smile on my face to remember how, after singing at a funeral Mass, he would come to the Luncheon and his first stop was the desert table. Before he left he would make sure to ask me how Michael was doing at Hillsdale.

My coach. My teacher. A mentor. A man who could be looked up too. A leader in sports and life. Pious. Earnest, compassionate. He was a stern disciplinarian but fair. He expected respect and returned it. He also expected 100% from his players and students, and usually got it. It's been many years Coach, but I will never forget you. Tough as you were. You gained our allegiance and admiration. You will be missed by many. You have touched so many in life and made them better. Be with God and His Angels this day..................RIP Coach.

I'm very sad to hear of Mr. Dornbos' passing. He was one of the kindest, caring, and relatable leaders that Ottawa Hills has ever had! I am an African American female (class of 79), and I had a lot of problems in my home and neighborhood growing up. Mr. Dornbos helped me through some very challenging times. He was not just an assistant principal, but one who cared!!!!! Our public schools need more great people like him. God bless the family! I love Mr. Dornbos!

Gary, so very sorry for your loss. Our prayers and thoughts are with you as you travel this very difficult road. May your fond memories and your hope in Our Risen Lord be your comfort at this sad and trying time. Even though his death was extremely sudden, to end this life here with such beautiful words must be very reassurring. What a gift. And he must have been a wonderful man to father such a great son.

Gail and II and the kids are sorry to hear about Dick's passing. We all have many fond memories of working with him at St. John School in Goshen. He was the most energetic and dedicated person that we have ever met. His love and passion for the Catholic faith and children are a true legacy that most of us will never ourselves experience. Dick will be greatly missed on this earth, but please beware in heaven; Dick will have an agenda and more "lists" to work on for an eternity. With Great respect / The Nichols Family.

Dear Dornbos family: I was saddened to hear of Dick's passing, but happy to know with his faith and good life he surely will see Jesus forever. I have fond memories of Dick, and of most of you (especially David, of course), and am sure your love of Dick, and of each other, will see you through this sad time. God bless Dick, and all of you.

Sincerely,

John

Dick was a wonderful man. I knew him through the PHM School Corporation. He worked through the student teaching program and as a substitute teacher. He was wonderful. He remembered that his father was my father's insurance man. He coached my brother while working in North Muskegon, Michigan. He still was a big fan of Muskegon's Catholic Central. He was wonderful to know. He will be missed.
Sincerely, Nancy

A neat guy I always enjoyed talking to when he visited his kids in Libertyville, IL. I could always get the scoop from him on Notre Dame football's prospects for the coming season.
Prayers will be said for Dick and his family in the Grotto at Notre Dame.

I am sad to read that we have lost 'Coach.' I have great memories of Coach, beginning when I was in 8th grade at St. Thomas, Grand Rapids. Coach saw me working out for track and told me to join the Aquinas workouts under his supervision.

The story of his life left out another major part. He coached the St. Joseph Seminary high school varsity basketball team in 1968 through 1970. At the conclusion of our season, he said that it was the best winning record of his entire coaching career. I remember many great stories about Coach. He was a great man of character and influence.

The Kundrata Family wishes to express our sincere condolences. Dick and Fred Kundrata were best friends growing up in Muskegon Michigan and maintained that special bond throughout their lives. They enjoyed playing basketball, sailing, and eating spaghetti and meatballs at the Kundrata home. Later in life, the 2 friends exchanged priceless letters updating each other about events in each of their lives. Dick was a source of faith, strength and commitment and will always be fondly be remembered.
